Tenerife - Sand beaches in Tenerife

Afdrukken E-mail

Tenerife's coastline has something for everyone - sun worshippers, water sport enthusiasts, scuba divers and nudists can all indulge their particular passion here. The island's sub-tropical climate, has earned it the title of "The Island of Eternal Spring"

El Médano Beach

is the closest to Amarilla Golf. It is the longest beach on the island, a two-kilometre stretch of fine golden sand that ends at a volcanic cone called "Montaña Rojo" (Red Mountain). Sun loungers and parasols are available for hire. There is a very pleasant seafront walk to stroll along and many typical Spanish bars and restaurants to choose from on the sea front. El Médano beach stands out for being the ideal place to go windsurfing, although it does not deter other beach goers, especially with children, who enjoy the calm, shallow waters of this beach. The beach is very safe and there is always plenty of space for the children to play ball games, surf board on the waves, build sand castles and generally have fun.

Connected to El Médano beach via the Montaña Roja nature reserve is La Tejita beach, a one kilometre stretch of beach of fine golden sand that is set well away from the town. Right next to the spectacular Montaña Roja is this small cove which makes a cosy beach, mainly used by nudists. There is a small bar on the beach for refreshments and snacks, sunbeds and parasols are available for hire.

Los Cristianos

What used to be a fishing village has today become one of the biggest holiday areas, with some large beaches including a new man made beach

Stretch of golden sand, this beach is at the end of the harbour that begins in the town of Los Cristianos, a lively tourist resort with all the facilities you would expect from an important town. The ferries leave from this port to most of other Canarian Islands of La Gomera, La Palma and Gran Canaria,

Playa de Las Americas

is the most famous tourist area, and so this is where you will find plenty of small beaches, protected by long breakwaters to stop the made up sand banks being washed away.
Being an area with a large number of tourists, always count on meeting a considerable crowd on the beaches. The great thing about this area is that all beaches are just a footstep away from each other.
This is the place to practice all kinds of water sports and enjoy lovely scenery.

El Camisón

is one of the many beaches between the tourist resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas.  A popular beach throughout the year, it offers a range of enjoyable water sports.
The swimming conditions for children are excellent on this beach due to the breakwater, which protects the beach from currents and waves.
